Wakatobi

Wakatobi is the name of an archipelago located in an area of Sulawesi Tenggara (South East), Indonesia. The name Wakatobi is derived from the names of the main islands that form the archipelago: Wangiwangi Island, Kaledupa, Tomea, and Binongko. The group is part of a larger group called the Tukangbesi Islands. Wakatobi is also one of the district in the province of Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The capital of this district is located at Wangi-Wangi, the total area is 823 km ² and in 2003 the total population 91 497 inhabitants, the population consisted of 44.843 men and women 46.654 inhabitants.The archipelago, located in the biodiverse hotspot known as Wallacea. It is part of the Wakatobi National Park.Positioned at the heart of the Indo Pacific area where marine biodiversity is at its greatest, diving is truly fantastic.
